It's a remake of the original game with several new features that are designed with the mobile player in mind.

For instance, you can switch on auto-battling if you'd rather let the game do all of the grinding for you. However, if you'd still prefer to do it all yourself, you'd just like it to play a tad quicker there's an option called Battle Speed Boost which allows you to play the game between 1 and 8 times the normal speed. Hearing about that feature gives me fond memories of Dodrio Speed on Pokemon Stadium.

I imagine the first exposure many had to Smilegate's Crossfire would have been at E3 2019, which was when its console version was announced. The thing is that it's been absolutely massive in Asia for over a decade at this point, so it's quite exciting to see the series head westward in a big way.

The original Crossfire is a military FPS similar to Valve's Counter-Strike games, though the newly released Crossfire: Warzone is completely different – a top-down strategy game for mobile.
Interview - All there is to know about PUBG Mobile's first-ever exclusive map, the gorgeous Livik
The game soft-launched many months back in select regions, including Singapore and the Philippines. adapkirmj.xyz
Sometimes a digital board game comes along that just screams awesome. And Here Be Dragons definitely fits into that category. It's a strategy battle game set before the journey of Columbus, and sees you trying to clear the sea of monsters.

Obviously everyone involved in such an endeavour is a little on the bonkers side. That's what happens when your day job involves taking down giant leviathans and kraken.

The monster-smashing here is turn-based, and there are plenty of dice rolls and other twists to make sure you stay engaged. Plus the game looks like it's taking place on an old map, which is a neat look indeed.

It's both an RPG and a card battler, who'd have thought? It's available now whether you're on Android or iOS.

It's a turn-based RPG at its core but instead of cooldowns to manage you give each member of your party a deck of cards that act as their abilities. So it's similar in concept to something like SteamWorld Quest. The difference being that Traitors Empire has a grid-based movement system so positioning will play more of a factor than in a lot of RPG card battlers.

As you progress through the story you'll gather new and more powerful cards to deal out to your party. They can also be improved through a crafting system so even if a card starts off quite pitiful it may turn into a vital inclusion in your deck.

Cards will also be how you select your party members' armour and weapons. New weapons and armour can be found by looting chests that you'll find as you scurry through dungeons.

Alongside the campaign, there will also be a variety of PVP modes. You can join clans to defeat tough enemies together or face off against other players to test your mettle. This will be the only way to earn certain cards as you climb the online ranks.

There will also be numerous events where you will take on other players in either PVE or PVP that will apparently see superior rewards dished out. They will take place periodically throughout the year.

Traitors Empire Card RPG is available now on both the App Store and Google Play. It's a free-to-play game with microtransactions so expect your card upgrades to be on lengthy timers.
Check out our news section to discover the latest, and greatest, games.

Fairy tale puzzler A Day in the Woods came out for iOS on April 2nd but wasn't announced for Android until earlier this month. There's a reason for that. A couple of them, in fact.

Megan Hughes of South Africa-based studio RetroEpic Software told us that A Day in the Woods had to be iOS-exclusive at first. At least, it had to be as far as the studio could see at the time.

"Currently, there is no way for a South African company to set up a merchant account and sell a game for a premium on the Google PlayStore," Hughes explained.

Apparently, this will should be changing in the future, but for RetroEpic, this meant that that an Android version of the game was trickier than it should be.

"Our options were left, then, to releasing for free or possibly make use other monetization options which didn't appeal to us," Hughes added.

"It would also have been unfair to release a premium version on iOS and a free version on Android, so ultimately we avoided Android conversations altogether."

However, after launching the iOS version of A Day in the Woods, Amazon got in touch with RetroEpic to see if the game could be brought to its own Android app store.

This option hadn't occurred to RetroEpic before this and so with it becoming open the studio started to work on an Android version.

"In the meantime, we saw friends of ours at QCF Design release their game, Desktop Dungeons, via Finji on the Google Playstore," Hughes said.

"We took a shot at contacting Finji to see if they might be able to help us do the same, not expecting that they would, but they were more than happy to help us out!"

Finji is a developer and publisher founded by Adam and Rebekah Saltsman (creator of Canabalt) and is based in Texas, North America.

Due to this, none of the restrictions placed on South African studios affects Finji so it can publish games for them on the various app stores.

By working with Finji, RetroEpic is now able to finally bring A Day in the Woods to Android via both the Amazon App Store and Google Play. As with all fairy tales, then, it's a happy ending.

With all this sorted out, RetroEpic is hoping to bring its next game - a memory-matching puzzler called Ginjah - to iOS but also Android, providing that A Day in the Woods does well on the platform.

A Day in the Woods should be available for £3.99 / $4.99 on Android on July 30th.

You can already purchase it for iOS on the App Store at the same price.
